This is an unusual review. My wife and I moved to Brunswick from Auburn. Our new home required extensive new flooring. We decided on wood flooring in some rooms and porcelain tile in other rooms. We hired a flooring company in Lewiston which supplied the flooring and recommended an installer. The supplier did not supervise the installer, and the installation was substantially sub par. We were fortunate that someone recommended that we have the installation evaluated by Andy at Durfee's. Andy came to our home and spent considerable time both evaluating the installation and recommending remedial steps. It was clear from our conversations with Andy that the defects in the installation would not have occurred if we had indeed engaged Durfee's in the first place. Among other things, we had unexpected expenses because the supplier we used did not warn us that the installer's price did not include replacement of baseboards damaged in the flooring installation and the cost of removal of the existing flooring. We learned that Durfee's supervises installers it recommends, and, like airplane pilots and surgeons, Durfee's staff uses check lists when they are engaged to assist customers in the acquisition and installation of flooring to be sure that there are no surprise expenses. What a simple device to guide the uninitiated in this kind of venture! Oh, if we had only engaged Durfee's in the first place! Don't make our mistake! Thank you, Andy and Durfee's for your kind guidance.
