5 stars...to product and especially the installers, Marcus Tucker & Gary! We had new carpet installed in 3 bedrooms, a hallway, & living room, and sheet vinyl in the kitchen. These guys were pleasant, professional, and extremely hard-workers!! Carpet installation looks fabulous! Quality of materials also gets high marks (we chose 8# pet-friendly padding and Dreamweaver Pet carpeting) 2 stars for the management & sales. basing our review on our experience Robert, the salesman, and Dave the installation manager, Dave! These two were the source of much anxiety & frustration! Robert talked a good game, asked us to be upfront with him, then proceeded to talk extensively about the contests/trips he is working to win (Boston this year) & spent significant time telling us what a great company it is to work for, how they take employees & their families to Cedar Point, etc. That's all fabulous for the employees and smart for the employer (to retain talent), but is honestly pretty irrelevant to the customer. Robert said they could install next day, but then changed his story to "the color you picked is so popular it isn't in stock" so it could be installed in 2-weeks. That was fine, we had no problem waiting. He called into the office to schedule our installation, gave us the date (one day), and explained there would be 2 crews coming, 1 for vinyl flooring, another for carpeting. We received the standard "reminder" call on Friday confirming we'd be ready for Monday's install. NO ONE ever mentioned the job would take more than the one day; remember, we were anticipating 2 crews, to do the job on the scheduled day. Imagine our surprise when we not only learned that Marcus & Gary were the ONLY installers, but that it was planned they would be here over 3-days! Hey Carpet Guys ...the customer NEEDS to know this in advance...at least those of us who have jobs of their own! Our calls to the office, general manager, and salesman were all met with an attitude of "you should've know" (HOW? We were told ONE day! We have not had flooring installation done for 15+ years, we only know what you tell us!). So, we call the office in a panic because we have not made arrangements to be at home for 3-days...so what'd they do: contact the installers and tell them to hurry (i.e. Management dumped all pressure onto these 2 guys...who busted their butts, never taking a break, and working 12-hours on Monday)! During the installation process, we requested the installation manager, Dave, come look at a several areas of concern with the vinyl flooring in kitchen (2 corners had torn, a rip occurred while returning the refrigerator, and a terrible seam placement). Dave tried to blow us off by saying he'd have them "patch" the tears by cutting out squares (aka result would mean even more seams). We refused to accept this and were finally told they would replace the vinyl (now stretching into 3rd day). In summary, the lack of honest information upfront led me to miss a day of work, then I had to impose on extended family members to be at our home for another unexpected extra day. This is also unfair to the installers, as it put undo pressure on them when they are faced with angry customers. In summary:
Quality of materials=great
Professionalism of installers=outstanding (Marcus & Gary, you guys SAVED your saved employer's #*% on this one!!!) We would (very cautiously) recommend "The Carpet Guys", but warn you to watch out for the salesman's BS! If you have to deal with a manager, be prepared to INSIST on a positive outcome!
